Why You Must Hear God

In our journey through life, our understanding of situations and the world around us is based on the knowledge we possess. We interpret facts and details to form our understanding of reality. However, the Bible reminds us not to lean solely on our own understanding but to seek God’s guidance in all things. In this blog post, we will explore why it is crucial to hear from God and allow Him to direct our paths.

  1. The Interwoven Realities: We often perceive reality based solely on the physical world, neglecting the spiritual dimension that intertwines with it. Just like a coin has two sides, our existence is composed of both the physical and spiritual realms. The story of the Israelites’ escape from Egypt serves as a powerful illustration. When faced with imminent danger, the people’s understanding of the situation led them to panic and fear. They voiced their concerns to Moses, emphasizing their belief that it would have been better to remain in Egypt. However, Moses, having a deeper understanding of the realities of both worlds, reassured them to trust in the Lord and witness His salvation (Exodus 14:10-13).
  2. Avoiding Costly Mistakes: When we rely solely on our own understanding, we run the risk of making grave mistakes. God’s guidance can protect us from dire consequences. For instance, in the story of King Ahab, he released a man God had appointed for destruction, resulting in severe repercussions. Similarly, there are times when God may choose not to answer our prayers for someone or intervene in a specific situation. It is essential to discern God’s timing and align our actions with His will to avoid unintended harm or negative outcomes.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV)

3. The Triumph of God’s Will: While we may have various plans and desires in our hearts, ultimately, it is God’s counsel that prevails. Despite the devices and intentions of humanity, God’s purposes stand firm. Acknowledging and seeking God’s guidance ensures that we align ourselves with His perfect will. By doing so, we position ourselves to experience the fullness of His blessings and to participate in His eternal plans.

4. Avoiding the Wrong Path: Human beings can be easily deceived by the allure of what seems right. Proverbs wisely cautions us that the path that appears correct in our eyes may lead to destruction. To navigate through life successfully, it is crucial to seek God’s wisdom and guidance. By hearing from God, we gain clarity and discernment, enabling us to avoid pitfalls and choose the paths that lead to life and fulfillment.

Conclusion:

Trusting in our own understanding can be limiting and potentially dangerous. However, when we open our hearts to hear from God, we tap into His infinite wisdom and guidance. Seeking God’s direction helps us navigate the complexities of life, avoid costly mistakes, align ourselves with His perfect will, and steer clear of paths that lead to destruction. As we learn to hear God’s voice, we unlock a profound source of guidance, comfort, and strength for our journey through life.
